Lately, I have been commuting to the office more often.
By now, over two years into this pandemic, I have read so much about the ever-changing landscape of remote work versus the office: The think pieces on culture shifts and career impacts; the viral LinkedIn posts clapping back at policy changes; the latest-and-greatest news from some large employer who is pioneering some daring direction. There’s plenty of fodder to feed on. The content just keeps on coming.
There’s a lot that remains unresolved around this new normal, and I’m somewhere in that swirl, trying things out, and navigating my way toward my own new normal. The office doesn’t feel the same as it did in the before days, and the train is quieter than I remember. But different is okay. Adapting is continuous.
All that to say, I am grateful for flexibility and heartened to reconnect with peers at work. And a sun-bathed train ride along the way is a welcomed moment to have to myself.
